Re: DA 13/07/18

6 Seven out of ten letters equals a finale? Do me a favour.

9 bout = b out = take b away = rubbish

16 Rasputin has been dead for over 100 years, hardly in a position to be influential anymore. Perhaps 'old influential' or one-time influential' would be better. Is there an editor in the house?

Re: DA 22/06/18

14 Is there a surface meaning?
17 'with final' = h. As Kermit loses its top(head) it is not a face-lift. As DA well knows the face is but the front part of the head not the entire head.
25 2 At Cape Canaveral one does a count down not a count.

Re: DA 08/06/18

14 'disoriented' does not and never has meant to remove the orient (e) from a word. If DA wishes to imply it does he should do the right thing and add a question mark to the clue. 19 The clue only works correctly when the hyphen is removed. Once again a question mark is required to make it a fair cl...

Re: DA 01/06/18

Well done Dr Bob. As with 25 another example where DA does not play fair by using a compound word when separate words are called for. And no question mark used to indicate some verbal hanky-panky. In addition, seen from behind = n would be better as seen at the back. In either case still not the gre...

Re: DA 01/06/18

10 Equally puzzled.
19 Chambers gives glance = 'to deflect'. Is deflect an anagrind?
25 Definitely needs a question mark as DA really means Neo classic, not the compound version. Also, outspoken is not a homophone indicator; the addition of a question mark would make it barely acceptable.

Re: DA 25/05/18

7 Seems like a very indirect way to get at the answer. The capitalization of Genesis suggests The OT book was meant. If not, and the capital was a ruse, then a '?' is certainly warranted.

Re: DA 25/05/18

2 Also puzzled by wordplay as Ori(gen) is an early Christian philosopher. Very much corporeal. 31 Audit is not a homophone indicator. Even the addition of a question mark would make it barely passable as a clue. The best Chambers gives is as an obsolete definition for audience, hearing 22 Clearly a ...

Re: DA 18/05/18

22 AS 'laptop' is meant to be read as 'lap top' for the clue to work, a '?' would have been the right thing to do.

Re: DA 04/05/18

22 'invoice' is not a homophone indicator; 'in voice' perhaps. DA may think he is above working within the conventions of English, but to we lesser mortals the use of a '!' or a '?' to indicate that something out of the ordinary is going on is the right and proper thing to do.
