April 2026 Slot 1 (Mystery Letter) by Crowsman

All of the Across answers contain a mystery letter exactly once, and are not defined. Each Across clue defines another word which, when the mystery letter is added, provides the answer. For example, suppose the mystery letter is M (which it is not!). Then ‘Fishing (7+1)’ would give MANGLING, ‘Invent (6+1)’ would give CREMATE. Down clues are normal.
